I must say it’s rather flattering to be included amongst such an impressive roster.

Came across this interesting website.
Genreguru.com
The focus of the website is the sale of specific guides for improvising different genres, but there are a few interesting things for those who, like me, have an antipathy for paying for things on the internet.
Such as this list of different ways of asking for a genre.
This morning I’ve been watching these instructional videos from the Canadian Improv Games. (which I saw on Dear Annette)
While the videos are too specific to be of general use, but they are a) super slick, and b) an interesting insight into the kinds of issues they need to deal with when running the competition.
I love TED lectures and I love storytelling and I…thought Lost was ok.
So I really love this lecture from J.J Abrams about storytelling.
If you can’t be bothered reading all of the chapters Johnstone wrote about the flaws in the education system. You can simply read this cartoon from Chris Harding’s WE THE ROBOTS. (which is an awesome website, by the way).

Because I’m still reading Free Play. Here’s a TED talk that seems relevant.
From the website;
Jennifer Lin, then 14, starts by playing Joseph Hoffman’s “Kaleidoscope,” then Robert Schumann’s “Abegg Variations.” She talks about the process of composition and discusses the state of flow, when she can improvise beautiful music instantly — a state of mind that cannot be forced. Lin invites audience member Goldie Hawn to choose a random sequence of notes, from which she improvises a beautiful and surprisingly moving piece, known to draw tears even via podcast. She finishes with a lightning performance of Jack Fina’s “Bumble Boogie.”
Found this great website for IOWest improv group Trophy Wife.
Not only is it a nice looking site, but they put up video of their entire show every week, which is exceedingly generous.
Another day another improv blog (there’re more than I thought!)
This blog is almost entirely photos of improv shows.
My favourite part is the occasional video. As someone who often feels isolated from the larger world of improv, it’s always nice to see what other people are doing.
Here’s one now

I can’t believe I haven’t mentioned this before.
An online reality show about a group of improvisers.
I was totally hooked on this when it ran last year, and I just got hooked on it again as I was looking up the link.
Just came across a new improv blog (as usual thanks to Creative Creativity).
Definitely check this one out.
