A range of newses

November 5th, 2006

Good news;

New page of the Tower is up.

Bad news;

I’m not putting any more pages up for the time being.

Saki and I have been talking about it, and we I”ve decided that we want to try and get the comic published on paper. If that doesn’t work out. Then we’ll continue here.

In the mean time, I’ve put up the first two chapters of Insanity Road up. The other two will follow in time.

Delay delay

October 24th, 2006

Sorry for the lack of updates.

The reason for this is that Saki and I are in the midst of a serious discussion about what we want to do with the comic once it’s finished.

In other news. I just finished Scott McClouds new book. It’s a cracking good read.

can’t stop falling

October 17th, 2006

things are getting a bit of rearranging.

MAtt sent me the files for Insanity Road, so I’m going to start putting them up here.

there will be no joke about pages

October 10th, 2006

Two more pages are up for the comic.

Since I worked through Saturday I have today off (in addition to the public holiday yesterday). The sun is shining and life is good.

Madness takes it’s toll

October 1st, 2006

I should also mention that many other comics that I wrote are to be found at

Insanity Comics

For two years, Matt Powell and myself wrote a weekly(ish) comic for the University of Canterbury’s student magazine, Canta.

I would characterize the process as;

writing: Brendon and Matt
art: Matt
production: Matt

Degrees of Insanity  was written in 2002

Insanity Road was 2003

Sky is open

October 1st, 2006

As a writer, I absolutely hate to watch people read something I’ve written (and as a reader I’m not fond of being observed by the author).

However, as a usability tester I feel that such things are sometimes neccessary (note to self: two way mirror?).

Anyway, the comic as been updated (start from page one) .

I can only assure you that things will become clearer in next weeks installment.

I should also note that -as per Shakespearean convention- if someone is holding a candle, that means it’s night.
Today’s handy hint: the simplest way to detect a two-way mirror (also known as a one-way mirror) is to rap it with your knuckle. Since there is (obviously) no wall behind it, the sound will be hollow.

falling for the first time

September 28th, 2006

I’ve posted the first two pages of the comic here.

The first page was hand inked by Saki. The second is just a scan of Saki’s pencils.

Expect more pages on monday.

To Do List

September 24th, 2006

-think of a proper name for website*
-scan the long comic
-muck about with scans computer-style
-think of a proper name for the long comic**
-tell people that this website exists
-put something on the list I can cross off immediately

*suggestions welcome.
**It’s roughly 65 pages in length. It’s no Blankets, but significantly longer than anything else I’ve written.

Strange - Built to Spill

Penelope - Pinback
Red Right Ankle - The Decemberists
Nothing But Green Lights - Tom Vek
Anyone Else But You - The Moldy Peaches

Scanning

September 24th, 2006

I’ve begun scanning in ‘the long comic’ (as yet untitled).

But first I’m trying to get the hang of the whole process, since I don’t want to have to redo the whole thing once it’s done.

Still, I expect pages to start going up over the next few days.
