falling for the first time

Thursday, September 28th, 2006

I’ve posted the first two pages of the comic here.

The first page was hand inked by Saki. The second is just a scan of Saki’s pencils.

Expect more pages on monday.

-scan the long comic
-muck about with scans computer-style

Zach Braff for a Day

Sunday, September 24th, 2006

While languishing in my hostel in Toronto, I decided to construct the soundtrack to my own non-existent indie romantic comedy.

For some reason, I now present it to you.

Alternate Bee: Music from and inspired by the non-existent motion picture.

Misty Frequencies - Che Fu
Casimir Pulaski Day - Sufjan Stevens
Strange - Built to Spill
Naked As We Came - Iron & Wine
Our House - Angie Hart
Clouds - The Long Winters
All The Right Reasons - The Jayhawks
Submarine Bells - The Chills
The Boy With Aubergine Hair - Minuit
Penelope - Pinback
Red Right Ankle - The Decemberists
Nothing But Green Lights - Tom Vek
Anyone Else But You - The Moldy Peaches

Scanning

Sunday, September 24th, 2006

I’ve begun scanning in ‘the long comic’ (as yet untitled).

But first I’m trying to get the hang of the whole process, since I don’t want to have to redo the whole thing once it’s done.

Still, I expect pages to start going up over the next few days.

One day I’ll fly away

Here is the picture I’m using for my banner. Drawn by Saki.

I’ve tried to add some colour, but I’m afraid I don’t really have a sense for colours.

A thought

Friday, September 22nd, 2006

“We obviously have, as a species, a number of problems at this current time. The only way I can see for us to get round them is thinking our way round them – I can’t see us spending our way round them, we’re not going to be able to bomb our way around them. I could be wrong, maybe we can spend and bomb our way around them, but I would say on balance that if we’re gonna get round them at all, we’re gonna have to think our way around them, and that is gonna need new forms of thinking. I don’t know what they are, but I’d just say let’s try some of the options, and see if anything interesting comes up.”

Progress report

Tuesday, September 5th, 2006

I’ve put up a couple of my comics. Still getting the hang of how wordpress works. I think it can do what I want it to do, but there are a few tricks I still need to work out.

My hope is that I can use this to host my as yet untitled masterpiece, which I should begin scanning in next week.

Everything seems ok when you’re listening to Jim Noir.

to say the least
